Long story...

My brother and his family from Ireland are staying with me for the week. Last night, my brother, my two nephews and myself went out to dinner at a local diner
while his wife and daughters were shopping. My seven year old nephew loves American hot dogs. He said that the hot dogs in Ireland are shite. He heard that
we have foot-long hot dogs in America and couldn't wait to get one and has been talking about it for weeks.

You sir, are correct. I'm an anal-retentive type. But luckily, I didn't call.

I don't get how people can't understand Irish accents. It pisses me off when History and Discovery channel shows put on subtitles when an Irish,
Scottish, or English person is speaking. And the asshole pretentious ads on BBC America telling us to turn on closed captioning so we can understand it. Yeah,
it's a different country, but they're still speaking fucking English and it's no different from going to a different US geographical area and
dealing with the local accent.

I was with a group of people at a restaurant once, one Irish and one Scottish and the Scot asked for no tomato on his hamburger. The waitress couldn't
understand it. Now, this was in Missouri, so I can understand her lack of awareness that other countries exist, but it was in St. Louis, not some podunk farm
town. And if nothing else, she should have figured out what "to-mah-to" was from the context of the conversation since he was ordering a freaking
hamburger that came...

yep, I'd call the cc company, AND the restaurant. no, wait, I'd GO to the restaurant, with my copy of the slip in hand, showing the line through the
tip section, and a print out of the actual charge showing the extra $8.00.

I wouldn't bother explaining the foot long story, unless the waitress herself brings it up. I would just state the facts: you left a cash tip, and
explicitly indicated on the slip that no tip should be added, and the waitress either made an error or deliberately stole the $8.00 from you.

that kind of shit shouldn't be allowed to go on. misunderstanding or not. and it really wasn't a big deal, IMO, what your brother said. I think more
damage would have been done if the server was a guy, to be honest! then it might have been misconstrued as a come on or something!

The diner did not have foot-long hot dogs, but had a hot dog meal on the kids' menu. We told him it wasn't a foot-long, but he wanted us to ask any
way. When the waitress came to take our order, my brother ordered the hot dog meal for my nephew, who asked the waitress if it was a foot long. With his
Irish accent, she did not understand him. My brother wanted to appease him and was seeking to have the waitress help him in this endeavor. He looked at her
