Been meaning to start this thread and forgot. Fortunately, jester's thread reminded me.
Just a silly little game/thread kind of thing. Say someone was coming to visit you that had never visited your area before. Assuming they'd get a hotel (or crash on the couch if you prefer), what would you tell that person to bring with them to make sure they had a fun time?
Note: For clothing, just assume the "normal" attire is going to be tshirt, jeans, tennis shoes and anything more or less is what to pack.
All seasons:
1. Some type of outerwear.
2. Camera
3. Hair clips/ties (for the long-haired people).
4. Sunscreen no less than 45spf.
5. Sunglasses.
6. Hat with brim.
7. Water bottle, filled and being used at all times.
8. Chapstick.
9. Hand lotion.
10. Medication if you're allergic to dust.
Summer (July-August):
1. Jacket (I cannot stress this enough).
2. Hiking boots.
3. Bandanna.
Fall (September):
1. Warmer jacked.
2. Long-sleeved shirts.
3. Bathing suit (for the hot springs).
Winter (October-Early April):
1. Enough layers to be good to -20F. Layering is better than one big coat because you'll have to deal with temp differences between outdoors, the hotel (depending on how new it is), the car, various stores and restaurants, etc.
2. Warm hat.
3. Very warm gloves with mittens to go over.
4. Scarf (essential!)
5. Earmuffs.
6. Thick socks.
7. Shoes that can stand in a snowdrift for five minutes without giving you frostbite.
Spring (Late April-June):
1. Warm jacket.
2. Long-sleeved shirts.
3. Bear mace.
4. Book on how to survive a cougar attack.
Alternately:
Lots of money to buy all that shit I mentioned above because you didn't believe me that you'd need a coat in August. Yeah, I'm looking at YOU, mom!
